About Us

Owned and operated by John Sabino, the Valuable Book Group is located in one of the finest golf related regions in the world in Princeton, New Jersey. Located 45 minutes from the USGA Library in Far Hills, New Jersey and 45 minutes from the #1 ranked course in the world, Pine Valley. The USGA has the largest and most complete collection of golf books in the world. Close proximity to the library helps us should we need to check a bibliographic reference or an item’s authenticity.

Valuable Book Group specializes in rare, antiquarian and used golf books. We utilize a proprietary database and have tracked sale prices and auction prices over the last two decades.. John Sabino, the owner, is a member of the Golf Collectors Society and British Golf Collectors Society and an avid golf book collector. He has also played golf around the world and is lucky enough to have played many of the world’s top courses, including the top 100 golf courses in the world. The picture above was taken on the veranda of the antebellum clubhouse at the last course he played, Augusta National.

We have been featured in Luxury Travel Magazine, Score Golf Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Australian Golf Digest, Links Magazine, on the GolfChannel.com and in Golf Digest Index.

Like our approach to the game itself, we are also obsessive about collecting golf books. We would be happy to assist you in selecting books for a gift as well.

Satisfaction Pledge

Our reputation is our most Valuable asset. Buyers may return books within 10 days if not delighted with the book for any reason.

Since we have always found that you make better decisions when armed with full information, we include a comprehensive description of all titles including editions, publishing dates, etc. When you are looking for books in these subject areas you will often times see reference to these bibliographic names (ie,  Murdoch, Donovan & Jerris). If you collect rare and valuable books it is important that you become familiar with these reference books. In addition, we strive to communicate in plain English without a lot of the jargon often associated with used and antiquarian books. There is nothing more frustrating than buying a book only to find out later that you bought the wrong title or edition or that there was a limited edition of the book and that is what you really wanted. These reference guides are indispensable for such purposes.

Terms of Sale

All books are subject to prior sale. All books can be returned within 10 days if not satisfied with condition or descriptions. Heavy, oversize or larger sets will be billed for shipping accordingly. New Jersey residents will be charged sales tax. Please email with any questions about condition or shipping. Credit cards accepted through Abe. Orders shipped when payment received.

Book Conditions

We use the Bauman Rare Books standard when grading our books. When you see our descriptions of books the following is a guideline:

As new or mint: Used only for books in virtually the same condition as the day they were published. A book that shows no wear.

Fine: Approaches the condition of the above; may show only the most minor wear. Near-fine: Nearly fine, but may show a few small signs of wear.

Very good: A collectible and desirable book that shows some wear.

Good: Used and worn; a book that is complete but worn. In most cases collectible only as a reading copy. It is very rare that we offer a book in this condition.
