Castle To Clubhouse: How Golf Came To Loch Lomond by Nicholas Best

Private Printed, 2020, First Edition. Luss, Scotland. 238 pages. Issued without a dust jacket with a slipcase. Book and slipcase are both in very good condition. The book is signed on the half title page by the cricketer Sir Geoffrey Boycott.

An elegant club history befitting this high-end club located in Scotland. Beautifully produced book and slipcase in red cloth with the club crest on them. Traces the history of the historic castle on the property, Rossdhu House, from its earliest days centuries ago through to the current day. The club is for the very affluent and the membership is very restrictive and small. The history traces the trials and tribulations the club had when it effectively went bankrupt and had to reorganized after the stock market crash of 2008. The golf course at Loch Lomond was designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and they are featured in the book as well. The Scottish Open golf championship was also held at the club and a chapter highlights those tournaments.

Beautifully illustrated.
