The book is a detailed biography of golf course architect George C. Thomas. Thomas was the architect of such world class courses as Los Angeles Country Club, Riviera, and Bel Air.
Thomas was also a founding member of the Pine Valley Golf Club. The book includes extensive analysis of Thomas's design philosophy and pictures of his courses and a discussion of the courses. The cover illustration is of Riviera's sixth hole.
